Meet ASI’s Scientific Advisory Board for 2026–2029, bringing together researchers from across VU to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and advance sustainability research.
We are pleased to introduce our renewed ASI Scientific Advisory Board for the 2026–2029 term, to foster interdisciplinary collaboration in sustainability research.
We recently held the first meeting of the renewed board, marking a new chapter for ASI. Formerly known as the Scientific Steering Committee, the board now has an updated advisory role, with members acting as ambassadors for ASI within their faculties and helping connect researchers across the university.
The renewed board brings together both new and continuing members. We warmly welcome our new colleagues and thank the members who have chosen to continue their involvement with ASI. Their ongoing commitment, expertise and perspectives are invaluable to our sustainability research community.

The Scientific Advisory Board plays an important role in connecting ASI with faculties and research communities across VU Amsterdam. Its members are also connected to ASI's research clusters, helping bring together different disciplines, perspectives and approaches to sustainability challenges.
Board members serve as ambassadors for ASI, contribute expertise and advice when needed, and bring forward ideas and opportunities for collaboration. Through this network, they can exchange knowledge, gain insights into strategic developments across the university and strengthen connections with colleagues from other faculties.
Members are appointed for a three-year term, until 2029, and meet twice a year to share perspectives, discuss developments and explore opportunities to work together.
We look forward to working with the renewed Scientific Advisory Board over the coming years, building bridges between researchers, faculties and the wider stakeholder community.
Together, we continue working towards ASI's mission: “Integrating knowledge for a sustainable future.”
