In addition, several major events such as Amsterdam's 750th anniversary, NATO Summit 2025 and SAIL Amsterdam will also be taking place in the same period. These works and festivities will cause extreme traffic hindrance and extra crowded public transport. This may affect your travel time to VU or that of your visitors.
Due to various road and rail closures and diversions, travel time on the road may increase considerably. There will also be fewer or (partly) no trains and metros running on public transport. This can make public transport busier than usual. It is advisable to plan your trip well or inform your visitors in advance.
We published a schematic overview at our website of the most significant road and rail projects until October 2025: Route description and accessibility - Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. You find more information about the works, diversions, travel options and various discount offers relevant to your route at 2025 - Amsterdam Bereikbaar.
