The VU Teachers Academy reorganizes its education programs for future secondary school teachers as of the 2027/2028 academic year.
The one-year program 'Master Leraar VHO', which can be taken after completing a subject master’s program, will become the only master’s program at the VU leading to a first-degree teaching qualification. The final enrollment in the two-year program 'Master Educatie Mens & Maatschappijwetenschappen' and the 'Master Educatie Taal & Cultuurwetenschappen' will be on September 1, 2026. Current students in the 'Master Educatie', as well as those starting in September 2026, will of course be able to complete their program.
With this change, the VU Teachers Academy aims to bring more focus to its educational offerings, enabling the staff to concentrate primarily on educational quality.
