Celebrating the Digital Business & Innovation (DBI) Master’s Graduation

4 November 2025
On Friday, October 24th, we celebrated the graduation of the Digital Business & Innovation (DBI) Master’s cohort at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Students from the 2024–2025 class came together with their families, friends, and faculty to mark the completion of an important academic journey.

The ceremony was hosted by Marijn Plomp, with faculty members — Maura Soekijad, Frans Feldberg, Edona Elshan, Katharina Cepa and Bart van den Hooff from the KIN Center for Digital Innovation — awarding the diplomas to the graduating students, marking the completion of their academic journey.

Two special moments highlighted the evening and captured the spirit of the DBI program. Marc van Heemskerk received the DBI Thesis Award for his innovative and impactful research, while Eleni Dimou delivered a brilliant speech on behalf of the students, perfectly reflecting the essence of community within the program: it’s intense and challenging, yet success comes through teamwork and mutual support.

Graduates commended the program’s practical approach and its strong connection to real-world business challenges. Part of the program’s success comes from the DBI Advisory Board, consisting of successful alumni who generously share their expertise. Combined with the program’s experiential learning and hands-on approach, insights from these seasoned practitioners equip students — many of whom have already started their careers — with the skills needed to thrive professionally.

Congratulations to all DBI graduates! We invite you to stay connected through the DBI Alumni LinkedIn group to continue your professional development with us.

"My time within the DBI program has helped me understand what impact emerging technologies have. The courses taught during the program gave me the knowledge to achieve my first professional position as an AI innovator within the Dutch government. Our mission - create meaningful change across the participating provinces. I have only recently graduated, but I already feel that the impact and relevance of the frameworks taught are truly relevant."
