Masters in Marketing and STREEM are rated above average by students

9 March 2023
According to the Keuzegids 2023 (Choice Guide ed.), which was released on Thursday March 9, students have given the masters in Marketing and Spatial, Transport & Environmental Economics (STREEM) an above-average rating.

The Keuzegids is an independent consumer guide that assesses and compares the quality of all programs. Master's students evaluate their programs annually in the Keuzegids on content, teachers, testing, career preparation, and atmosphere.

Both the part-time and full-time versions of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam's Master's in Marketing were highly rated by students. The part-time program received the highest score of "++" for the quality of study materials, the overall level of the program, testing, and atmosphere. The full-time Master's in Marketing scored above average on content, teachers (both in terms of content and didactics), testing, and atmosphere, with particular emphasis on the guidance and involvement of the teachers. Aylin Aydinli, program director: “As we are thrilled with the outstanding evaluation of our Master’s program, I am reminded of the dedication and hard work that has gone into achieving this success. Our program has exceeded expectations in all areas, from content and teaching to assessment and atmosphere. The guidance and involvement of our teachers have been particularly outstanding, and we are proud to have a community of learners who are committed to excellence. Let us celebrate this achievement together and continue to push the boundaries of what is possible.”

The master's in Spatial, Transport & Environmental Economics also scored above average on content and testing, with both components receiving a "++" score. Hans Koster, program director: “It is excellent news to hear that the masters received a good evaluation, and particularly on program contents. I do not think this is surprising, since VU Amsterdam hosts one of the best and largest research groups in the world studying environmental, urban, transport and real estate issues within an economic context. Many of the most pressing global issues – such as climate change, the housing affordability crisis, and growing spatial inequality – exactly happen at the intersection of these four fields. Hence, choosing the Master Spatial, Transport and Environmental Economics will prepare students to face these issues head on.”

The Keuzegids Masters is compiled annually by the Center for Higher Education Information and compares all accredited master's programs at Dutch universities. The guide's evaluations are based on student ratings and accreditation data, using information from the National Student Survey. The Keuzegids works with relative scores, which show whether a program scores higher, lower, or equal to the average. If there is a "•", the program scores around the average on that theme. A "+" indicates above-average, and a "-" indicates below-average. A program can receive a minimum of three minuses and a maximum of two pluses.
