For a long time now, VU Amsterdam has been committed to creating an inclusive work environment where all VU employees, regardless of their origin, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, etc., have the same opportunities and can develop as much as possible and - of course - be themselves within the VU organisation. The Gender Equality Plan is in line with this and formulates concrete measures and actions for the period 2022 -2025 under the themes "recruit, work and appreciate".

From 2022, institutional Gender Equality Plans will be required by the European Commission for funding under Horizon Europe, the EU's Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
