Workshop 'Why smart people click on phishing links'

Share

Cybersecurity is often viewed as a technical issue. But then why do cyberattacks so often succeed because of human error? Why do people sometimes follow policies and sometimes not? And how do you create a culture in which secure behavior becomes the norm?

During this interactive workshop, social psychologist and cybersecurity expert Maarten Timmerman, CEO and co-founder of Awareways, will take you on a journey into the world of human behavior in information security. Drawing on his background in social psychology, he will demonstrate how behavior, motivation, and organizational culture influence digital security.

Using real-world examples and insights from behavioral science, Maarten explores:

  • the relationship between behavior, culture, laws and regulations, and security policy;
  • the difference between extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, and how organizations can influence these to encourage safe behavior;
  • why employees sometimes resist working safely, and how to address this.

A session at the intersection of cybersecurity, psychology, and behavioral science. Of interest to anyone who wants to understand how human behavior influences digital security.
