This symposium is a follow-up to the event organized by WO&MEN@VU on the occasion of International Women's Day. It focuses on the role of gender and intersectionality in higher education. During the symposium, we will discuss how education and knowledge on gender equality and intersectionality can be maintained and strengthened in a climate of increasing political pressure.
Programme
14:00 – Opening by diversity and inclusion researcher Seda Müftügil Yalcin.
14:30 – Presentation of research findings by students from the Political Science programme.
15:15 – Human Library activity featuring inspiring "books" who invite participants to engage in critical dialogue and challenge stereotypes about people situated at the intersections of multiple identities.
Across all sessions, we will explore the role that gender equality and intersectionality should play within higher education and how these themes can continue to have a place in teaching and research.
We hope to see you there to listen, participate, and learn from one another.
