we will host the Gender and Intersectionality Symposium at VU, focusi
ng on the role of gender and intersectionality in higher education.
This symposium is a follow-up to the event organized by WO&
amp;MEN@VU on the occasion of International Women's Day. It focuses o
n the role of gender and intersectionality in higher education. Durin
g the symposium, we will discuss how education and knowledge on gende
r equality and intersectionality can be maintained and strengthened i
n a climate of increasing political pressure.
Programme
14:00 – Opening by diversity and i
nclusion researcher Seda Müftügil Yalcin.
14:30 – Presentation of research findings by students from the Politi
cal Science programme.
15:15 – Human Library
activity featuring inspiring "books" who invite participants to enga
ge in critical dialogue and challenge stereotypes about people situat
ed at the intersections of multiple identities.
Across all sess
ions, we will explore the role that gender equality and intersectiona
lity should play within higher education and how these themes can con
tinue to have a place in teaching and research.
We hope to see
