The next annual National Open Science Festival will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, this time at TU Delft. Here, researchers and other interested parties can learn more about open science, exchange experiences and find inspiration for applying open science in daily practice.
Register as a participant
From Thursday, May 7 you can register as a participant. For participants, registration closes once the maximum capacity has been reached. After that, interested parties can be placed on the waiting list. Note: register even if you have submitted a proposal.
Submit your proposal
Starting Thursday, May 7, it is also possible to submit a proposal for a workshop, lightning talk, networking session, poster session, information booth or any other good idea. You can submit a proposal no later than June 14, 2026, 23.59 CEST . The program committee will review the proposals in July and let the submitters know in August whether their contribution will get a spot at the festival.
Leo Waaijers Open Science Prize 2026
From 2026 NWO and UKB will jointly award the annual Leo Waaijers Open Science Prize. With this prize UKB, NWO and Open Science NL recognize and appreciate initiatives that make an important, inspiring and sustainable contribution to the open science movement. The winner receives a cash prize in the amount of €50,000. The amount can be used to further strengthen the initiative or to set up a new initiative.
A jury of open science experts will judge the entries. The winner will be announced during the Open Science Festival. Nominations can be made no later than June 23, 2026 before 14:00 CEST. Would you like to nominate someone yourself? You can do so by sending an e-mail.
