Who are the change makers of the future? And what can you bring in to contribute to a better world? Get inspired!

Who are the change makers of the future? And what can you do to contribute to a better world? Get inspired by the invited speakers who will share their experience on how to make the world more sustainable.

There are countless great examples of people contributing to a better world. At VU and beyond, scientists, students, and citizens are committed to making the world a better place. Sustainability Office VU, Amsterdam Sustainability Institute and Young Green Business Club Zuidas invite some of such changemakers to speak during the 2024 Sustainability Day, to inspire, and to answer your most pressing sustainability questions.

The event will be officially opened with a keynote speech delivered by Faiza Oulahsen (KPMG), who will share the story of her activism, environmental transformation, and change. After a Q&A with the audience, three local changemakers will present their take on effective changemaking and how they succeeded in personally achieving it - Magnus Skår (Young Green Business Club Zuidas / Deloitte), Esther Kokmeijer (Netherlands-based visual artist), and Krista Boots (MSc Political Science student VU Amsterdam / Partij voor de Dieren & Jonge Klimaatbeweging).

The final component of the official program includes an interdisciplinary dialogue between Magnus, Esther, Krista, and Tabitha Saliba (original founder Green Office VU & founder of the Green Office Municipality of Amsterdam), moderated by Nienke de la Rive Box.

The evening will close off with drinks and a networking session between our participants.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Please note that there will be a photographer taking pictures during the program. In case you do not want to appear on the pictures, please inform the photographer on the day.

Our relationship to nature and specifically our relationship with water. The theme of water in all its manifestations, such as liquid ‘water’, gaseous ‘vapour’ and solid ‘ice’, has played a major role in her works for several years. Many of her projects are based around the ‘Global Commons’, the globally shared natural resources of the earth; the high oceans, the atmosphere, outer space and Antarctica.
