Specifically, we’ll discuss commemoration as a collective practice in non-violence. We’ll be joined by experts in heritage, ritual and peace studies. The main chunk of the event is the panel conversation between the experts; there will be time for input from other participants.
During the program we’ll also commemorate those members of the VU community that died during the Second World War. Historian Wim Berkelaar will share a spoken biography of one of the people who are mentioned on the commemorative plaque of the VU.
This event is the ‘On Campus Edition’ of the newest podcast episode of The Connective, on non-violence: ‘Realist Concerns with Non-Violent Ideals.’
