In three sessions (November 18th, November 25th and December 2nd) we read three different chapters from When Things Fall Apart. We do so on the spot, with coffee, tea and cookies; no preparation is needed. In this second session, we reflect on compassion and communication. Pema Chödrön details how inextricably connected compassion towards others and compassion towards ourselves are:
“If we find ourselves unworkable and give up on ourselves, then we’ll find others unworkable and give up on them. What we hate in ourselves, we’ll hate in others. To the degree that we have compassion for ourselves, we will also have compassion for others.”*
Join us Monday, November 25th, from 4:00 till 5:30 PM, to discover more and join the conversation on compassion and communication. All you need to is sign up! We’re happy to have you.
Practical information
You don’t need a copy of the book; we share hand-outs with the parts we read during that session. We read the parts together out loud, but there is also time for personal re-reading, and reflecting; followed by time for conversation and exchanging thoughts. We open at 4:00 PM with ten to fifteen minutes of grabbing our coffees and teas and settling in. If you have any questions, be sure to join our WhatsApp chat, or send an email to newconnective@vu.nl.
