In 2022, the VU Amsterdam Vision for future-proof assessment was presented. This vision is fleshed out in three design principles, which are intended to serve as a basis for all programmes at VU Amsterdam. They also form the foundation of a degree programme’s assessment programme. Degree programmes make choices in the focus they place on the various design principles, depending on the nature and educational vision of the programme. When designing the assessment of a course unit, a learning path/minor or a programme, the lecturer or programme management considers the alignment of the assessment programme with the design principles. As a point of departure, the quality of the assessment must always be in order. This document aligns the School of Humanities’ assessment policy with the VU Amsterdam vision for assessment, focusing on such things as quality assurance, actors in assessment, assessment practice and practical support.
The assessment committee of the Examination Board of the School of Humanities is responsible for safeguarding the quality of the interim and final examinations. The activities of the assessment committee are aligned with the VU Amsterdam assessment framework and the assessment policy of the School of Humanities. This document describes the assessment committee's work procedures for carrying out these responsibilities.
