The Research Office of the School of Social Sciences (SSc) is the primary point of contact for support on research related matters for its staff.

The ambition of the Research Office is to support researchers in effectively realizing their research goals, while at the same time supporting the school and its departments in creating a research environment in which high-quality research can thrive and societal impact is maximized. Scientific integrity, sound data management, and the education of PhD candidates are an integral part of this environment.

The Research Office team operates as linking pin towards other VU-wide services, such as Finance & Control, HRM, Communications & Marketing, IXA-GO (business developers and central grant desk), IT and Library. 

Activities

• Supporting the research portfolio holder of the School Board in establishing and implementing research and valorisation policy;
• Supporting the work of the school's Institute for Societal Resilience and its R&I labs;
• Providing advice and support in finding and acquiring external funding (opportunities);
• Providing advice to management of research projects;
• Providing advice and support on maximizing (social) impact and dissemination of FSS research;
• Providing advice and support in the preparations and organization of research assessments;
• Providing advice and support with respect to research integrity, data management and ethics related matters;
• Managing and providing research related management data;
• Acting as secretary of several school-wide research-related committees.

The Research  Office consists of a small team that operates as linking pin towards other Vrije Universiteit-wide departments (Finance & Control, HRM, Communications & Marketing, Innovation Exchange Amsterdam (IXA), Grant Desk, IT), in order to ensure its academic staff the required level of research support.
