Course assesment

Last updated on 22 September 2021
Meer informatie over het toetsdossier

Background

SBE thinks that it is very important to have a good quality of assessment in a course. This is important for the quality of education and also good testing and its documentation is a prerequisite for achieving the accreditation of the study program. Until recently, however, there was no clear and workable blueprint and no  clear instruction.

Many examiners already keep their own course assessment file, but the formats used vary.

Therefore we developed a standard course assessment file last fall. This model has been tested in pilot groups and the result is an easy to use model that also covers the completeness of the information collection.

This allows the course assessment file to be standardized, so that it is clear to everyone what is expected. In addition, parts of the file also help to improve the quality of testing.

Content

The course assessment file provides insight into the quality of the assessment per course and consists of the following five components:

  • Exam and / or assignment
  • Test blueprint, please see the end of this page for the formats per programme. You can find a completed example here.
  • Answer model plus scoring guide or rubric (assessment criteria and forms)
  • Results of students
  • Test and item analysis (soon available) and score overview (at sub-question level)

The model can be used for the accountability towards NVAO as well as towards AACSB.

We ask you to archive the course assessment file yourself for the time being. The Exam Committee will regularly request course assessment files  because of its task to safeguard the test quality of the study programs. The education office examines how we can store the test files centrally.

More information and support

The formats and additional information are available on Academic Course Support.

Workshops

Filling out the format test blueprint will maybe raise a number of questions. To support you with this, workshops are organized. These are pragmatic and result oriented: at the end of the workshops the test blueprint for your own course will be completed. The next workshops are on:

  • Monday 11 June, 12:00 - 14:00hr
  • The workshops will also be announced via e-mail and SBE Newsflash. Check here for the PowerPoint about preparing the blueprint.
  • Do you want to participate? Or would you like to have a separate workshop for your program? Please contact one of us, you can also contact us for personal advice about the test blueprint or test analysis.
