Computing & Storage
Last updated on 4 July 2026

Each phase of a research project has different requirements for storing and processing data. Especially in fields where data is growing exponentially as in the life sciences or climate research it is good to plan ahead.

Since 2010 Contact team IT for Research (ITvO) provides technical IT solutions to many research projects. We do this by collaboration with researchers. Please provide some context to the project you are working on (e.g. what is your Research field?, which question or project can we help you with? , how can we best contact you?)

A lot of solutions are available to fit your scientific workflow, but you can also apply for advice from your faculty Data Steward, Privacy Champion, RDM support desk ) or IT for Research.

Research Data Management (RDM) is an important part of Open Access and Open Science. On this page (Research Data Management policy (BETA) - Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (vu.nl)) you will find a short guide on the RDM principles, current policy and available support for researchers in the Faculty of Science.
