English-taught degrees and language skills: the ALP can help

Last updated on 15 July 2021
The last few years have seen an increase in the number of English-taught programmes. To ensure that students are proficient enough to take a programme in English, entry requirements have been determined and many programmes have chosen to incorporate an ALP course in academic writing in the first year. However, there is quite a gap between the level students need in the first year and that required in the final year. The ALP can help degree programmes by offering advice, supporting teachers and providing extra modules.
