VU Education Collective

In this collective, VU scientists unite who want to focus on education in their careers. This path has not yet been frequently paved, so it sometimes requires pioneering. And when treading new paths, it is nice to do so together; together we see more opportunities, together we keep our spirits up.

Community and talent development path in one
The collective is designed to provide much-needed space for VU teachers who want to shape their careers around teaching and educational leadership. We are a community and a springboard. A network and a talent development pathway. You will have the opportunity to further develop your professional teaching identity. What will be your specific educational expertise? In what area are you willing and able to be a thought leader? What sources of inspiration are there inside and outside VU Amsterdam in this area?

Personal guidance and exchange within the VU context
As Centre for Teaching and Learning, we know very well what educational developments are going on at the various places at VU Amsterdam. We know where and what expertise is needed and therefore where career opportunities lie. Therefore, we give you a push in the direction that suits you best. In this way, the collective is also a stage on which participants can show and express their talent. We learn from each other as we face similar and different challenges. By standing strong together, we become a leading collective.

If you join this collective, you will receive personal guidance from Janneke Waelen, director of the VU Centre for Teaching & Learning, among others. As leader of the VU centre of expertise on educational development, she knows better than anyone how educational innovation works within VU Amsterdam, what support teachers need, and how to work together on inspiring and future-oriented education.
