Strengthening personal and academic leadership within the VU

Have you recently received a Veni (or similar) grant and do you need contact with a network of like-minded people where you can share issues and challenges with each other? Where you can work on your own development through various master classes, peer review and coaching?

Then join the Veni Personal Leadership Program.

Scientists spend much of their time getting grants for good research. Sometimes it takes a long time to get a grant, sometimes it works right away, but often the grant comes unexpectedly. And then you can suddenly start giving direction to your own line of research.

All kinds of questions can then suddenly become very important. How do you handle negotiations? How do you sail your own course without throwing away your chances in the future? Do you want to continue to grow in the academy with all the ups and downs that come with it? How do you guard your work-life balance?

Also, the sense of responsibility (and the influence you now have on the careers of others) is strong and can even be paralyzing. There are high expectations, of quality research and teaching. Finding a balance between individual and team work is therefore especially important. In addition, science is increasingly working in multidisciplinary research teams within a context of high workloads and a changing climate that calls for a multicultural and inclusive approach.

In the Veni Personal Leadership Program, spread over 6 months with trainers and guest speakers from inside and outside VU, you will develop insights and tools to strengthen your personal effectiveness in everyday work situations and increase your self-direction in your own career.
