Multilevel Modelling and Longitudinal Data Analysis

Multilevel Modelling and Longitudinal Data Analysis

In this course on multilevel modelling and longitudinal data analysis, the focus is mainly on the application and interpretation of the different statistical analyses.

This six-day course will explain the basic concepts of multilevel analysis (which is also known as mixed model analysis), some specific application of multilevel analysis and will further focus on longitudinal data analysis. The latter includes standard modelling, alternative modelling and the analysis of RCT data. It is an applied course, so the emphasis lies on the interpretation of the results from the different analyses and not on the mathematical background. Lectures are given in the morning and in the afternoon a computer practical is given using the statistical programs STATA, SPSS and R.

Key takeaways:

  • The student understands the fundamental principles of multilevel analysis and is able to make appropriate choices regarding analytical strategies for multilevel data.
  • The student is able to interpret the results of a multilevel analysis.
  • The student understands the basic principles of longitudinal data analysis and can interpret the corresponding output.
  • The student is able to analyse data from a randomised controlled trial (RCT) and interpret the results.
  • The student is capable of conducting both multilevel and longitudinal data analyses using using a suitable software package.
