The VU EMBA: Leading with Purpose emphasises strategic leadership, ethical decision-making, and societal impact, delivered in a part-time format with immersive weekend sessions. Yes. The programme is specifically designed for busy executives, primarily based in Europe. One intensive module per month (Thursday to Saturday) allows you to continue your professional role while integrating insights from the EMBA: Leading with Purpose directly into your work, accelerating impact and growth.

  • 5. Are scholarships or financial aid available for Executive MBA students?

Yes. VU Amsterdam offers scholarships for Executive MBA students based on merit, professional achievement, diversity contributions, and financial need. Alumni and early registrations benefit from a 10% discount. Early exploration of funding options is recommended to maximise support.

Graduates gain the skills and confidence to step into executive-level roles, lead organisational transformation, and make purpose-driven decisions. The programme strengthens strategic thinking, innovation, and resilience. Alumni join a global network of peers, mentors, and professionals, enabling lifelong connections, career advancement, and enhanced influence within and beyond their organisations.

  • 7. Is it too late to start an Executive MBA?

The VU Executive MBA: Leading with Purpose is designed for experienced leaders, typically with 5–15 years of professional experience, who are ready to step into or accelerate their senior leadership journey. While many EMBA participants are in their late 30s to early 50s, the programme brings together a diverse mix of career stages, industries, and geographies, fostering peer-to-peer learning at the highest level. What matters most is your leadership ambition, readiness to influence, and desire to create meaningful impact. Whether you are leading organisational transformation, pivoting to a purpose-driven role, or scaling your influence across industries, the EMBA equips you to sharpen strategic vision, expand your network, and lead with confidence, purpose, and impact.

  • 8. Is the Executive MBA internationally recognised?

Yes. VU Amsterdam’s School of Business and Economics holds AACSB, EQUIS, and NVAO accreditations. Your EMBA carries global credibility and is valued across sectors and industries.

  • 9. Do I need a GMAT or prior business degree to apply?

No. The programme prioritises professional experience, leadership potential, and purpose-driven ambition. Candidates from diverse backgrounds including corporate, public sector, NGOs, entrepreneurship, and tech are encouraged to apply.

  • 10. What is the application process, and how competitive is admission?

The EMBA is designed for ambitious, purpose-driven leaders. Admission is selective, evaluating professional achievements, leadership potential, motivation, and alignment with the programme’s purpose-driven mission. The application includes:

    • Online application form with CV, personal statement and two recommendation letters.
    • Copy of passport, diploma and academic transcripts.
    • One-on-one interview with the  programme director.
