Art Based Learning & Nature Based Learning

Art Based Learning (ABL) and Nature Based Learning (NBL) are valuable methods for reaching new insights and stimulating your creative ability. How? By looking at art or an element from nature. Truly looking. Looking longer. Investigating. By associating, putting yourself in that which you perceive, and reconnecting those experiences with an issue and sharing them with another.

Art & Nature Based Learning in four steps
In Art Based learning you learn from art, in Nature Based Learning from nature. An Art Based Learning session can take place in any art museum, preceded by a plenary meeting in which this visit is prepared.A Nature Based Learning session can take place almost anywhere; for example, in a park, garden or nature area.

In the plenary session, the background of ABL or NBL and the methodology are discussed.
The participants work on the basis of a four-step model in which a personal question is the starting point. They first explore individually and at the end of their wandering, in small groups, they exchange their experiences. The aim of the method is to stimulate "out of the box" thinking in order to ultimately arrive at a creative act.

With Art & Nature Based Learning, we create slow time, so-called in-between time.

'Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.' (Viktor Frankl)
