Art sparks the imagination. It sparks curiosity. It encourages us to question what we take for granted. It fosters the critical and open-minded perspective that is so essential in an academic context. It touches on the creative. The inquisitive. The human. Do you feel that way, too?
Then join this collective: a group of pioneers who are convinced that art can enrich academic thinking and make a valuable contribution to fostering “A Broader Mind.” Together, we will explore how we can give art a lasting place within VU Amsterdam. In short, a group that believes in the power of art.
Since we are a collective in the process of being established, we are still actively exploring what role we can play within the university and how to carry this out. That’s why we warmly invite you to join us from the start to share your thoughts, exchange ideas, and help shape how art can have a meaningful place within education (and possibly research) at VU Amsterdam.
How can you get involved?
There are two ways to do so:
1. Send a message to ctl@vu.nl to sign up for the “Power of Art” mailing list; we’ll keep you updated via email on future activities and initiatives.
2. Come to the kickoff meeting of the Power of Art collective on 5 November 2026. Go to the registration form (Dutch only).
