A critical perspective on science and society

You will develop a critical perspective on science and society, as well as sharp argumentation and writing. This will be a useful skill in your own field.

Overview courses

  • Ethics

    How should we act? What is the good life? This course offers an overview of the main approaches in contemporary ethics, and discusses many everyday dilemmas.

  • Philosophy of Science

    What is good science? This course covers central themes from the philosophy of science, such as how science is different from non-science, the role of values in science, the responsibilities of scientists, and the possible limits of science.

  • Great Minds I

    This course forms an introduction to ancient and medieval philosophy, and covers texts by the great minds of that period, including Plato, Aristotle, Boethius, Thomas van Aquino and Ockham.

  • Great Minds II

    This course is on the great minds from the 17th to the 20th century who had a deep influence on philosophical thought in general and views about science and culture in particular.

  • Political Philosophy

    How should society be organized? In this course, you will learn about the most important views behind the modern political spectrum.
