Sources in heritage, natural language, history, media, literature, art and the social sciences are increasingly available in digital form. In this minor you learn how to create, interpret and analyse different types of humanities and social data collections using methods for text mining, data analysis and visualisation.
You combine theoretical and critical reflections on what ‘the digital’ means for your discipline with hands-on training in programming (Python), data visualisation (R) and computational text analysis. In the first and final part of the minor you work in an interdisciplinary team on a real research project and under the supervision of researchers and/or at research institutes, you will produce a research paper and presentations.
After the minor you can critically evaluate digital methods and data, recognise bias and uncertainty, and communicate results clearly. These skills strengthen both your academic profile and future job opportunities.
