Campus Online Code of Conduct & Community Guidelines

Code of conduct: 

• Treat others online as you would treat them in real life. 
• Be tolerant of the views of others; you can respectfully disagree when opinions differ. 
• Respect the privacy and personal information of others. 
• Communicate with respect. 
• Do not curse or use abusive, racist, defamatory or discriminatory language. 

What is not allowed: 

• Attacking others personally on Campus Online. 
• Accusing others or making false statements about people. 
• Discriminate against others.  
• Bullying or making inflammatory comments to others. 
• Share photos or links to photos. 

Please use messaging/email responsibly. These tools are intended to keep in touch, facilitate networking and promote common interests. Therefore, never share private information of yourself or others, such as addresses and telephone numbers. 

Messaging/email and use of personal contact information made available through Campus Online - including names, postal addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, social media accounts, student information, employment information for commercial, advocacy, promotional or political purposes is prohibited. Prohibited activities include requests for business or personal services, fundraising, solicitation of any kind, mailing lists or spam emails. 

Consequences
Action can be taken by a VU employee if these guidelines are violated. In some cases this will result in a warning; in other cases it may result in messages being deleted or that an account will be suspended for a (un)limited time. We request that all community members report behaviour that violates our guidelines to the student desk using this form.

The relevant provisions of the 'ICT Facilities Regulations for Staff of VU Amsterdam' and the 'Reglement ICT-Voorzieningen voor Studenten Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam' (Dutch only) apply accordingly to the use of Campus Online.
