Peter Veer focuses on innovative research projects at the crossovers of history, documentary filmmaking, landscape, architecture and town- & rural planning.

He defended his doctorate thesis Bewogen landschap (English title Framing the Dutch Landscape) in 2020 at the University of Amsterdam. In 2006-2010 he worked at Alterra, part of Wageningen University and Research. Peter is also director of interactive and documentary filmmaking and new media projects. As scholar and as craftsman he would like to contribute to the reflection on and the further development of new forms of telling cinematic stories. Important to him is the question how do these stories fit in digital environments without losing the connection with the physical world in urban and rural settings. These topics, and spin-offs of his PhD research, he would like to develop further in the CLUE+ Institute.

Thesis: Bewogen landschap …. Amsterdam/Hilversum, 2020. PhD research project defended at the University of Amsterdam in a match with the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum on the historic collection of 533 dissemination films of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture with two themes: the representation of the landscape and of social engineering. Papers for European Rural History Organisation Conferences (Gironna SP, Leuven BE, Paris FR) and others. Valorisation: presentations in rural communities, for the Dutch Cultural Heritage Agency and for Wageningen UR. Contributions to expositions in Bureau Europa (Maastricht) and Het Nieuwe Instituut (Rotterdam).

Former education: Media Academie Hilversum (1992). 'One camera direction for documentary film' lead by Hedda van Gennep. Landbouwuniversiteit Wageningen (1984). Master in Landscape Architecture. Main subjects: Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning and Sociology.
