• ACCESS - Amsterdam Centre for Cross-Disciplinary Emotion and Sensory Studies

  The Amsterdam Centre for Cross-Disciplinary Emotion and Sensory Studies provides a platform for cooperation between scholars from the humanities, the social sciences, and the life sciences. Our research rests on the presumption that both the experience and expression of the emotions and the senses are culturally informed. • ACHHP - Amsterdam Centre for the History and Heritage of Protestantism

• CCBI - Centre for Contextual Biblical Interpretation

  The Centre for Contextual Biblical Interpretation engages in cutting edge academic research: the interaction between socio-cultural and socio-economic factors as well as established traditions of reading on the one hand and scriptural interpretation on the other hand. In particular, it does so by researching the hermeneutical and transformative potential that the encounter between diverse communities of interpretation has. In doing so, the research of the Centre has a clear interest in reading strategies that are societally beneficial and factors that help or hinder them. Reading strategies that might be considered beneficial are such that further respectful encounter, dialogue, rapprochement and mutual understanding between different communities of interpretation of the Bible. Such reading strategies contribute to actualization of the potential for social transformation that sacred scriptures hold. Click here for the website. 

• EHC - Environmental Humanities Center

  Bringing together students, scholars, and members of the general public interested in humanities perspectives on the environment, the new Environmental Humanities Center at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam aims to foster an exchange of ideas. Grounded in the realization that today’s environmental crisis calls for an interdisciplinary approach, we wish to stimulate conversations among the humanities and the natural and social sciences. • HDC - Amsterdam Centre for Religious History

  The Centre for Religious History (HDC) is a platform for research, education and valorisation in the field of the history of religion at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The centre uses an interdisciplinary approach to the history of religion in relation to culture, politics and society. CLUE+ and the HDC work together on various projects such as Monuments of Mosul in Danger.

• IALA - International Association of Landscape Archaeology

  International Association of Landscape Archaeology (IALA) is an association aiming at promoting interdisciplinary research in the field of landscape archaeology. IALA provides a platform for archaeologists, cultural and earth scientists and researchers from neighbouring disciplines to present and discuss results from this broad field of landscape research between the sciences and humanities. • MDC - Migration and Diversity Centre

  The Migration and Diversity Centre (MDC), initiated in 2007 and rooted at the Vrije Universiteit, is a cross disciplinary platform for professors, PhD candidates, and researchers to share and exchange research ideas and outcomes. The MDC actively pursues collaboration in migration and diversity research within the faculties of law, social sciences and arts, at the Vrije Universiteit as well as other international universities and research centres. • SPINlab

  The SPINlab is part of the Department of Spatial Economics and is chaired by Prof. dr. H.J. Scholten. The SPINlab employs researchers from a wide range of backgrounds: economics, physical geography, archaeology, history, mathematics and informatics to name a few. Click here for the website. 

• Stevin Centre

  The Stevin Centre for History of Science and Humanities is a collaboration of staff members from different faculties of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. It was opened on March 18, 2014. Members of the Stevin Centre offer English and Dutch taught courses on the history of science and the humanities at the BA and MA levels. The Stevin Centre is also a platform for research in the history of science and the humanities at the Vrije Universiteit and it organizes workshops, colloquia and seminars.
