Amsterdam Laboratory for Legal Psychology

About ALLP

The Amsterdam Laboratory for Legal Psychology (ALLP) is based at the Department of Criminology at VU University Amsterdam. ALLP was founded in 2017 by Peter van Koppen and Annelies Vredeveldt. Lab members conduct research on legal psychological topics including eyewitness memory, testimonial evidence, police reporting, geographical profiling and expert witnesses in court.

Members of ALLP teach various legal-psychological courses in the Bachelor and Master of Criminology at the VU, such as Legal Psychology, Forensic Evidence, Crime Analysis and Criminal Profiling and Project Reasonable Doubt. Lab members also regularly serve as expert witnesses in cases involving topics such as testimony and identification by adult or child witnesses, interrogation of suspects, alleged false confessions and deception detection, criminal investigation and evidence.
