Rules of engagement

Rules for joining VU Pride spaces
  1. VU Pride is a LGBTQ+ network based at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam; thus, those coming into our spaces and events must comply with the VU House Rules.
  2. The below-mentioned rules apply for all VU Pride events, for online engagement in our social media platforms, and for the Pride Library. 
      1. Any statements and/or actions that may be offensive, abusive or discriminatory to others on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, religious beliefs or sexual orientation, among others, are prohibited. 
      2. You must respect everyone's gender identity and pronouns through all forms of communication. 
      3. Do not discuss or share NSFW topics. 
      4. Do not romanticise or encourage any sort of harm to yourself or others. 
      5. When discussing potentially triggering-topics, you are required to give a content warning about the topic which you will be discussing. If someone is not comfortable with this discussion occurring in front of them, you must refrain from doing so. 
          1. If in doubt, do not discuss the topic. 
          2. If you wish to discuss a potentially-triggering topic, please do so in private with someone who is willing to talk about said topic. 
      6. For safety reasons, you are not allowed to take photographs or shoot a film during our events without permission of those attending. 
  3. If you break the VU House Rules or the above-mentioned rules of engagement, the security personnel from the VU may be called, and you may be asked to leave the space and VU Amsterdam premises. 
  4. If you feel unsafe in any of the VU spaces, please: 
      1. Contact Security: +31 (0)20 598 5854.
          1. Let them know you need help at the Pride Library, on the 11th floor of the Main Building. 
      2. For psychological help after an incident contact the Social safety coordinators: sociale-veiligheid@vu.nl
      3. For an emergency (fire, other unsafe situations, serious accidents): +31 (0)20 598 2222. 
  5. We are committed to making our physical and online spaces safe. Please contact  the VU Pride board (pride@vu.nl) or the administrators of social media groups if you feel uncomfortable.
