The Van Swigchem collection consists of approximately 300 works from the library of the architectural historian Prof. Dr. mr. C.A. van Swigchem (1923-2010). He was professor at the Vrije Universiteit from 1970 to 1988.
The collection Van Swigchem includes historical and religious books, architectural studies, and various works on the Dutch province Zeeland. The books were published in the 16th to 19th century. One of the highlights in this collection is the edition of De algemeene en byzondere natuurlyke historie by George Louis Leclerc de Buffon, containing colored illustrations. (XQ.05056.-).
