Our Mission

The lab’s mission is rooted in fostering transformative research that aim to enhance wellbeing in care organizations specifically. This benefits patients, employees, and institutions alike—patient wellbeing supports faster recovery, while employee wellbeing directly impacts care quality and reduces burnout risks. Additionally, the lab seeks to promote innovative science communication methods that engage a broader audience, including videos, podcasts, and various artistic formats.

The W@W lab aims for impactful change across the domains of social innovation, policy, funding and media through the support of:

  • experimental research designs, on themes and topics related to wellbeing in the context of care organizations, such as participatory action research or sensory ethnography;
  • in co-creation with societal stakeholders.

Specifically, the lab supports short-term pilot projects that are intended

  • to set the (research) agenda within the care sector
  • to stimulate connections between researchers and societal stakeholders to provide relevant insights
  • to to initiate grant applications that enable the extension of the smaller pilot projects into larger programs and ultimately create societal impact on a larger scale.

Additionally, the lab intends to foster non-traditional ways of science communication, that appeal to a larger non-academic audience, such as videos, podcasts, different art forms, etc.
