ZonMw carries out its tasks on behalf of the Ministry of Health (which provides 80% of its funding) and the Dutch Research Council (NWO). To reach the goal to get health related research towards an application it is important that funnel of R&D is closed together with agencies like NWO, RVO, Health Holland and other organizations. Apart from Financing through its programs, ZonMw also plays a role in Connecting and transferring (Bringing together scientists, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and patients) and Identifying and addressing (Spotting new societal or scientific challenges and knowledge gaps to put them on the national agenda)
