International Association of Landscape Archaeology

International Association of Landscape Archaeology is an association under formation aiming at promoting interdisciplinary research in the field of landscape archaeology.

International Association of Landscape Archaeology (IALA) is an association aiming at promoting interdisciplinary research in the field of landscape archaeology. IALA provides a platform for archaeologists, cultural and earth scientists and researchers from neighbouring disciplines to present and discuss results from this broad field of landscape research between the sciences and humanities. Building on the tradition of the previous Landscape Archaeology Conferences held in Amsterdam in 2010, in Berlin in 2012, in Rome in 2014, and in Uppsala in 2016 IALA is officially launched 5 July 2017 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

IALA aims at values of higher interdisciplinary education, expert and scientific research with emphasis on young scientists and mentors and explores possibilities of use of European funds for higher education purposes. The activities of the Association are directed toward mutual collaboration of all scientific institutions, professors, teachers, assistants and young scientists worldwide.

In order to establish a long-term collaboration between all researchers in this interdisciplinary arena IALA’s mission is to bring together all people involved in landscape research with a multi-disciplinary agenda. IALA aims to bridge the divide between sciences and humanities through higher education of young people, publications and supervising and promoting bi-annual conference organisation in order to establish a long-term sustainable development in interdisciplinary Landscape Archaeology. As the first step to fulfil this intention, IALA invites you to join the Association, become its active member in contributions, and/or be informed on a regular basis about the activities of the Association.
