The Language Toolkit/Toolkit Taal consists of two Canvas courses, one in Dutch, one in English. Each course offers practical, interactive lessons to help students across all disciplines strengthen their reading, listening, writing and speaking, as well as their vocabulary and grammar, with dedicated materials on writing and generative AI.

There’s no fixed order to go through the materials. Rather, you can start with whatever is useful to you right now. For instance, you may want to check what the rules are about verb tense in academic writing. Or how you can best learn the technical terms in your discipline. Or how you can get the most important informatiopn quickly from an academic article. Choose a topic, try the activities and apply what you learn directly to your own work. The Toolkit is available for any student during their time at the VU, so you can also come back later and refresh your knowledge of certain topics or try out new ones.

For teachers
For teachers, there are two ways to use the Toolkit. You can of course enroll to the student version, allowing you to refer your students to specific self-study modules. But you can also register for the teacher version of the Toolkit, which contains teaching materials that you can use during your own classes.
