Collection Van Noordwijk

The collection Van Noordwijk comprises 331 literary works from the 16th-20th century, acquired by private collector Bernard van Noordwijk. The collection provides a good illustration of the significance of these books for the private devotion of many Dutch generations.

The church books were often carefully looked after and passed on from generation to generation. The magnificent collection of these church books with fittings represents a period in which collective piety and exquisite silversmithing merge into a unique and personal possession. Each book is a beautiful work of art.

The books from the collection Van Noordwijk can be accessed through LibSearch and in the Image Base of the UB.

(Secondary Literature (Dutch): Bernard van Noordwijk, Zondags Zilver. Drie eeuwen versierde kerkboekjes. Heerenveen, Nederlands Bijbelgenootschap, 2006.)
