The department consists of four teams: Policy, Learning & Development, Job-to-Job and the official secretariat of the participatory bodies.
Policy
The team Policy develops VU-wide HR policies and tools to facilitate these policies. Developments within and outside VU Amsterdam lead to advice and new initiatives.
Focus areas include:
Policies are developed in consultation with the VU Amsterdam organization. The policy officers collaborate closely with faculties and divisions, often in a project setting. In addition to developing policies, we pay close attention to the implementation and communication of these.
Learning & Development (L&D)
HR & HSE has a VU-wide directing role for the education and development of employees. L&D ensures the quality of purchased training courses. Via a variety of services we offer internal education courses, such as leadership training on different levels and training courses to improve social safety. L&D also manages the e-learning environment GoodHabitz.
The full course offer is available through the Learning Management System (LMS) and is updated and supplemented with new training and education courses regularly.
Career and Job-to-Job
These teams support employees in career development, mobility and sustainable employability, aimed at the internal and external labour market. Among other things, they do this with:
- career advice and coordinating (team) coaching
- peer coaching and career orientation training for PhD candidates and postdocs
- mentorship programmes for talented scientists and management professionals
- managing job-to-job and reassignment trajectories, for example with workshops and monitoring of applications
Official secretariat Participatory bodies
The four employees of the official secretariat support the council members and the daily board of the VU Amsterdam Staff Council and the Student Council.
