Research
Ying Shen's research focus lies in intergenerational relationships, family care for older adults, and sibling dynamics, particularly against the backdrop of decreased family size in various social contexts. Her research is embedded in the Social Context of Ageing (SoCA) research program at the Department of Sociology and the Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam (LASA). Her PhD project explores the translation of intergenerational care potential, utilizing a mix of quantitative and qualitative methodologies across both Chinese and Dutch contexts.
