Personal information

Tobia Jones (they/them) is a PhD researcher with a focus on pluralising and sharing the governance of agri-food system transformations. This entails acknowledging, accompanying and encouraging cooperation between the protagonists of civic food movements (agroecology and food sovereignty; decolonial; food justice & right to food; and just sustainability transitions) and progressive public institutions (universities and government).

Tobia works as a methodology co-creator and reflexive facilitator of peer support within the Horizon innovative action project, FoodCLIC which strives for city-regional food system transformations. This entailed the making of trainings and guidelines for food environment and system mapping; envisioning and strategizing system transformation; the co-design and implementation of real-life interventions; and policymaking Communities of Practice.

Tobia specialises in participatory action research, co-design and activst methodologies with a commitment to be part of anti-racist and decolonial research endeavours that prioritise social and environmental justice for/with the majority world (i.e. global South peoples and places). This has meant being part of La Via Campesina movement of peasants, fisherpeople, and Indigenous peoples and working with migrant community leaders in Amsterdam and Barcelona.
