Rosario Paradiso is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Operations Analytics at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a PhD in Operations Research from the University of Calabria (Italy), obtained in 2020. With a background spanning mathematical programming, combinatorial optimisation, and data-driven decision-making, his expertise lies in developing rigorous algorithmic methods to support smarter decisions in logistics and supply chain management — particularly when facing uncertainty and incomplete information.
dr. Rosario Paradiso
Assistant Professor, School of Business and Economics, Operations Analytics
Rosario's research focuses on developing mathematical optimisation methods to support better decision-making in logistics and supply chain management, particularly when facing uncertainty. He investigates how companies and planners can build adaptive strategies that respond as information unfolds.
Industry: Logistics, supply chain management, city logistics.
Sector: Private sector, public infrastructure.
Application Domain: Last-mile delivery, dynamic routing, supply chain management, robust planning.
Research interests:
Operations research
Vehicle routing and logistics
Integer and combinatorial optimisation
Robust and stochastic optimisation
Rosario teaches at the master's level across two faculties at VU Amsterdam. He is the Course Coordinator and lecturer of Mathematical Optimisation in the MSc Business Analytics programme at the Faculty of Science, where he introduces students to the theory and computational practice of linear, convex, and optimisation under uncertainty. He also coordinates and teaches the Supply Chain Lab in the MSc Transport and Supply Chain Management programme at the School of Business and Economics, a hands-on course connecting optimisation methodology to real-world supply chain challenges. His teaching bridges rigorous quantitative methods with applied problem-solving, preparing students for analytical roles in industry and research.
