I am a post-Doctoral Fellow at Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, working in the Laboratory for Myology. In my current main project I am investigating the role of exercise training in alleviating mitochondrial dysfunction in type 1 diabetes. I obtained my PhD at Liverpool Hope University and completed postdoctoral training in Kobe, Japan, as a research fellow for the Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences. My broader interests include the physiological determinants of exercise tolerance/limitation in health and disease, control/regulation of oxidative metabolism, and exercise bioenergetics.
