Pim Leonards is professor in Environmental Bioanalytical Chemistry. He has more than 20 years of experience in field and experimental studies related to environmental chemistry, analytical method development, bioaccumulation, indoor exposure assessment, and metabolomics. Nowadays, his focus is on emerging chemicals, indoor exposure assessment and metabolomics.
He participated in several national and research projects for the government, European commission, or industry. He was the coordinator of EU research project “Life Cycle Assessment of Environment-Compatible Flame Retardants (Prototypical Case Study) (ENFIRO)”. He also coordinated the EU “Developmental Neurotoxicity Assessment of Mixtures In Children (DENAMIC)”. Professor Leonards has a broad experience in trace organic analysis (e.g. brominated flame retardants, chlorinated paraffin’s), ecotoxicology, metabolomics, risk assessment and the organisation of workshops on contaminants. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed articles on the topics of environmental chemistry, analysis, ecotoxicology and metabolomics.
