Personal information

Paola Cardozo Solano is a lecturer and PhD candidate in the Law & Tech department at VU Amsterdam. Her expertise lies at the intersection of law and digital technologies, with a particular focus on regulatory frameworks and the protection of fundamental rights.

Her professional background includes experience with the Colombian Data Protection Agency, as well as roles as a political advisor in the Colombian Congress, a consultant for lobbying and consultancy firms, and a research assistant, all focused on telecoms and technology regulation.

She holds master’s degrees in Law and Digital Technologies (Leiden University) and in Economic Law (Externado University of Colombia).

Research

Paola Cardozo Solano conducts research on the EU regulation of digital technologies. Her current research project explores the power dynamics shaping EU data-sharing policies, with a particular focus on the EU Common Data Spaces in health and agriculture.

Teaching

Paola is a lecturer and coordinator of the course Governance and Regulation of Emerging Technologies, part of the Minor in Technology, Law & Ethics for Bachelor students. She has also coordinated the course E-Commerce Law for the Masters in International Technology Law.

She also delivers guest lectures on the EU Common Data Spaces and the EU Data Strategy, focusing on the European Health Data Space (EHDS).
