Melanie Groẞ is an Assyriologist, specializing in the socio-economic history of the 1st millennium BCE Mesopotamia. She obtained her Master degree in Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology at the University of Innsbruck (2009) and her PhD degree in Assyriology at the University of Vienna (2014). Her PhD thesis on the Neo-Assyrian royal houshold has been published in 2020 under the title "At the Heart of an Empire". After completing her PhD, she has been working as a Post-Doc at several different Universities including KU Leuven and the University of Leiden. Currently she is lecturer at the VU Amsterdam (ACASA) and also has Post-doc position within the DigEanna project.
