Martijn Schoute is an assistant professor at the department of Accounting of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In 2009, he received his PhD from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam for his research on the antecedents and consequences of cost system design choices.
Martijn's research focuses on a broad range of management accounting and public administration topics, including service delivery mode choices of municipalities, cost system design choices of organizations, and operational budgeting practices. His work has been published in multiple accounting and public administration journals.
Martijn teaches bachelor and master courses, with a particular focus on topics where accounting intersects with research methods and data analytics. He also supervises bachelor and master theses.
