Maria Tamontseva is a PhD researcher and teacher at the Department of Management and Organization at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In August 2023, she started a 4-year PhD project on entrepreneurial careers under the supervision of Dr. Jos Akkermans and Dr. Wouter Stam.

Maria integrates multidisciplinary perspectives (e.g., careers, entrepreneurship, organizational behavior) to better understand entrepreneurial careers. In four projects based on her PhD dissertation, she addresses different aspects of entrepreneurial careers (entrepreneurial career success, layoffs and founder exits, and former entrepreneurs' behavior and success in paid employment) using diverse methodologies (e.g., literature reviews, digital data analysis, longitudinal survey data analysis).
Maria teaches Bachelor-level courses, such as People in Business and Society and Organization Theory. Moreover, Maria supervises Bachelor and Master students.
