Margo De Koster studied History and Sociology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels, where she worked from 1998 to 2006 at the Department of History as a researcher of the Belgian National Fund for Scientific research, and obtained her PhD in History on girl delinquency in the interwar period, in 2003. Afterwards she extended her post-doctoral research to the study of youth, urban crime, policing and punishment in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. She is assistant professor in Historical criminology at the VU Amsterdam and at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels and assistant professor in Social History at Ghent University.
