I am a toxicologist dedicated to improve the health of (future) mothers and children through science and education. A healthy start in life is incredibly important to prevent illness. I strive to understand and reduce the risk of environmental contaminants to children’s health globally. To accomplish this mission, I investigate the effects of potential toxicants on female health and the developing child, thereby avoiding unnecessary harm for animals. I am involved in many national and international (EU-funded) projects on the toxicological impact of endocrine disruptors. I translate these findings into practice and policy and disseminate to (inter)national scientific, societal and political communities in order to encourage healthy living from an early age. Currently, I coordinate the EU-funded project FREIA: Female Reproductive toxicity of Endocrine disrupting chemcials: a human evidence-based screening and Identification Approach (www.freiaproject.eu).
