Personal information

Louison is a PhD candidate in the department of Environmental Economics of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Exeter where he wrote his dissertation on the impact of air pollution on the cognitive ability of young people. He continued to specialise in Environmental Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) where he achieved an MSc in Environmental Economics and Climate Change, writing his dissertation on the impact of climate variables on the population dynamics of game in Southern Africa. Louison worked as an economist for Experian (London) where he developed a Climate Change dashboard and emissions calculator as a way to encourage banks towards green investments.

Currently, his PhD research focuses on the use of behavioural interventions (nudges) to encourage the uptake of energy-efficient investments in the Netherlands. His work is part of the Align4Energy project in the Netherlands, working towards a climate-neutral country by 2050. He aims to use frontier econometric and machine learning techniques to find new ways to nudge different clusters of people to invest in sustainable living.
